This unique rental, part of the Finca Bellavista community, boasts rich wooden features and furnishings along with plenty of cozy, rustic touches. Relax or dine out on your balconies and watch for visiting hummingbirds, toucans, and hawks. This home also features a well-equipped kitchenette and an outdoor, hot water shower. Please note this treehouse is a 30-minute hike from basecamp, pack light!
The home offers a private main bedroom with a queen sized bed.
Additional sleeping space with queen size futon can be found in the living space.
The home does NOT have electricity and NO refrigeration.
The property is a 25 min - 30 min walk from basecamp. This is a pedestrian community only - please pack light.
Fila Tortuga is situated on the red trail (FBV's internal road). The road is made up of loose rock - please remember boots.
The home has 2 bathrooms with shower in each (main room / living space with novelty outdoor shower) - it has hot water.
The kitchen has a gas stovetop with oven.
Fila Tortuga has been dubbed a favorite by guests for many years as the 'honeymoon nest'.
Home is prepared for arrival, local residents 'Bryan and/or Jess' will meet you at the base of the mountain and escort you to the house. A complimentary mid-clean is available on the 4th day of every week.
Weekly rate will NOT activate if more than 2 guests are selected or less than 7 nights.
A refreshing jungle vacation, relax and enjoy the home, private hiking trails, river and waterfalls. Spend the day searching for wildlife, swimming under the waterfall in the river followed by a relaxing evening/sunset from the home before a comfortable night's sleep surrounded by the sounds of the jungle. Home is prepared for arrival. This is a tenant style option where you can rent the home privately for one month (28 nights) subject to availability. The owner of Fila Tortuga requires at least 7 days prior notice to prepare the home, you will be given a contact for onsite maintenance and cleaning services.
Monthly rate will NOT activate if more than 2 guests are selected or less than 28 nights.
An extended break from the 'real world' and an opportunity to get back to your roots with help from mother nature. Your 'meet and greet' hosts, Bryan and Jess will arrange an arrival time with you and meet you at the base of the mountain on the main road. You can follow behind them for the last 3km (4 x 4) to the Finca Bellavista community car park. From there they will escort you on foot to the home.

Your very own private nighthike, with Bryan Chacon. Want to know what's making that sound outside? Bring a flashlight and Bryan can show you! Explore your section of the jungle with a personal tour, pick up and drop up at your own cabin. Service available to book at time of reservation.
A Finca Fresh bag harvested the day of your arrival, courtesy of Felo Zuniga. Felo has been growing the Finca Bellavista communities food for over 12 years. Additional Services: Once you have confirmed your booking, you will be put in touch with your 'meet and greet' hosts, Bryan and Jess. They can provide additional services such as setting up 3rd party excursions, personal taxi rides and grocery store delivery to the community every Sunday.
Meet the owner
Lance Kittel, a former volunteer of the Finca Bellavista community purchased the home in honor of his mom's memory. Born and raised in Colorado, USA and spent most of his life outside - from camping and hiking, to helping his family in the garden. At 18, he went off to college to study Environmental Biology and Ecology, and moved on to earning his Master's in Environmental Management with a focus in Global Sustainability.

Lance's current work brings inland communities into the realm of ocean conservation. He manages a network of chapters in community engagement, policy advocacy, and grassroots activism and ensures that constituents are well-informed of current ocean protection policy and practices.
In his spare time, Lance spends his days fly fishing and camping in the mountains of Colorado. His passion for off-grid community development is seen in his experience with Earthship Biotecture and developing his own off-grid cabin in Colorado. He documents these experiences on his YouTube channel, The Dirt People.
Lance has spent time around the world, and chose Costa Rica as his "home away from home". He shares his travels with his wife Skylar and their dog Ahi Tuna.
