- QuestionHi, all! I will be moving to Finca Bellavista in the beginning of February this year and renting Casa Perezosa long-term. I am currently exploring options for a small portable solar power system for purposes of charging laptop, camera, phone, etc. as well as a small 12V DC RV/camping fridge. I am wondering if anyone that has rented, owned or stayed at the Finca long-term may have recommendations in that regard. Currently, I'm looking at getting something like the RockPals 300W or 350W power station and two 100W portable panels. However, I am unsure if this is something I would need to purchase in the US and check in my baggage on the plane, or if it can be purchased in Costa Rica when I arrive. Later in my stay (most likely late March or April), I will be receiving a larger power station that I have backed on Indiegogo (2500wh ElecHive by Zero Breeze), but that is still currently in production, which is why I am looking for a smaller, temporary solution. The other thing I am still trying to figure out is a portable cooler or fridge to help with keeping food fresh. there are several 12V DC RV/camping type portable coolers and fridges available here in the US in the range of $300-700 that I think would work well for me, but of course, the shipping and duty fees on the products that are even available to ship to Costa Rica are outrageous -- even more than the cost of the product itself. I figured that would be the case, so I am hoping I can find something available in Costa Rica. Are there products like this available in Costa Rica? If so, where would one find such a thing? In my research, I have discovered that there is a duty-free shop in Golfito, so I was wondering if that would be somewhere to look. Or, would my best option be buying in the US and paying oversize baggage fees to check it on the plane? I would definitely prefer getting most of what I need in Costa Rica, as I don't want to have to carry a bunch of stuff on the plane... Thank you!0
