Hi everyone, Matt has been endlessly bu(e)gging me to ask my question regarding tried technologies, best practices in construction and best local contacts on his Forum instead of during breakfast, in his bed, on the toilet, etc. Since him and Amy are neighbors and I walk past almost every day, it's quite impractical to wait for answers here, but it now seems we have a growing community of people who might have a diverse experience and knowledge about off-grid construction in CR. So, why not share and try to help each other out. Seems I have to give it to Matt this time for having a good idea, ugh. I decided to document my experience at FBV here in this thread and will include only property related aspects of it, mostly focused on developing the land. That includes research, best-price hunting, best deals regarding materials and customer service and the process of landscaping and forest-engineering, designing the gardens, growing produce, irrigation, technologies for re-usability and sustainability, solar power and finally building a bigger-than-I-need house that should end up being a showcase of how to help people from any environment reinvent themselves and provide a lifestyle of totally sustainable living without the loss of comfort. While taking a dip in a natural swimming pool. And sipping a cocktail. Made from our own fruit. While watching a movie. In an open air cinema. Receiving a back-rub. This is just an introductory post, but I'll keep adding to it as things slowly pick up and I gain more and more information to embark on a step-by-step journey of my biggest project to date. I'm looking forward to any input The Fusion Forum can provide on the humble plans I have for this place. Stick around, it's gonna be a bumpy ride.
