TAMANDUA
This remote 3-level cabin features a sleeping loft with full-sized bed over the main living and dining area, a bedroom with full-sized futon, 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies, and views of the Osa Peninsula. This cabin has solar electricity and refrigeration. This cabin is a 30 minute hike from the car park.
Owned by a tropical biologist, this house is a birder’s and nature lover’s paradise. Watch toucans, monkeys, and coatis from the comfort of your hammocks and yoga mats on two spacious decks, or enjoy ancient primary rainforest along paths just a few minutes from the house.
Short-term rate (4 people max): $110.00 per night
Weekly rate (2 people max): $500.00 per week
Monthly rate (28 nights / 2 people): $1200.00 per month

The home offers a spacious mezzanine level style main bedroom with incredible views of the jungle.

Additional sleeping space with queen sized bed can be found on the lower level of the home with full ensuite bathroom.

The home has its own solar power system adequate enough for lights, a full sized fridge/Freezer and charging of small devices.

The property is a 25 - 30 min walk from basecamp. It is recommended to pack light and to wear boots or closed toe

Tamandua is situated on the red trail on the upper ridge. The access to the ridge is via a steep hill with loose rock and gravel.

An additional full bathroom can be found on the middle level - hot water via propane gas throughout the home.

The kitchen has a gas stovetop with oven.
MEET AND GREET
There is no office on the property or onsite staff. The community is made up of private home owners, residents, work exchange applicants and guests.
There is also no phone signal coming up the road to Finca Bellavista or at the car park so a time to meet with a member of the community needs to be prearranged. Once a booking is confirmed, you will be able to share your arrival day through the Fusion Forum where a member of the community will make themselves available to meet you.
Once you have been introduced to an available community member, you will be able to update them directly should your travel day or arrival time change. Once onsite, they will escort you to my home and ensure everything is operational and comfortable before leaving you to enjoy Tamandua.

MEET THE OWNER
Piotr (Peter) Naskrecki is an entomologist, photographer and author, based at the Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University (Cambridge, MA, USA.). He received his M. Sc. degree in Zoology from the A. Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland;, and a Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT. Between 2002 and 2009 Piotr served as Director of the Invertebrate Diversity Initiative at the Center for Applied Biodiversity Science at Conservation International, Washington, D.C.
Piotr's research focuses on the evolution of katydids and related insects, and the theory and practice of nature conservation. Currently Piotr directs the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Laboratory at Gorongosa National Park in Mozambique.
When at Finca Bellavista, Piotr provides complementary night hikes for residents and guests onsite as well as hosting moth nights at his home in Tamandua.
CANCELLATION
You are welcome to cancel with a full refund up until 5 days prior to your check-in date. A 50% refund (minus the first night and service fee) is available up until 12.00 noon the day of your check in.
All guests must sign a digital liability waiver before arriving onsite, you cannot explore the property or take part in any onsite activities unless this is completed.
DIRECTIONS
Finca Bellavista is located in the Central American country of Costa Rica, in the Southern Zone (on the Pacific Coast side). The Finca Bellavista community is 3 kilometers east of the InterAmericana Highway, near the town of Piedras Blancas (in between the cities of Palmar Norte and Rio Claro).
